Weds: The Overnighter

Yesterday, much like this whole week with Liz as HOH, has been a snoozefest on the feeds. The houseguests are so bored that they're coming up with ways to pass the time other than by sleeping. The other day, they had a cook-off in the kitchen, and last night they had a mock trial in the backyard. Fun, fun.

Okay, so there's not really much to report this morning except a conversation that happened between Johnny Mac and Steve at 5:13pm BBT.
They've had similar conversations like this one, where J-Mac says that Vanessa has to go next week and then Steve disagrees (in order to protect his F2 with V). John said that he has no problem making a (fake) deal with Vanessa for next week to keep each other safe but if he wins, he'd go back on the deal anyway because she's "done him wrong" in the past.

They end up talking about if Jackie/Shelli/Becky return to the game, which one of them would be gunning for who in the house. John thinks both Becky/Jackie would go after Austin/Twins and Shelli is a wild card because she'd pair back up with Vanessa, which is his worst case scenario.
Johnny Mac suggested that if they (Steve/JM) win HOH, they should either use each other as a pawn against Vanessa, or Austin/Twins against Vanessa, to ensure Vanessa gets evicted. Steve then went into his whole "Keep Vanessa around because she's a huge target" thing that he always does. Johnny Mac disagreed and said that it's a numbers thing and the longer she's around, the more targets they (Steve/John) are.

Steve then asked JM if he won HOH tomorrow, who would he put up. He said Vanessa and a twin or Vanessa and Steve. Steve asked if he would really nominate him and he said yes because "they" wouldn't vote Steve out because he got Jackie out. John said they can talk about it more if he wins HOH and go over options. Steve then said Johnny Mac was starting to make a lot of sense and now thinks that getting Vanessa out is a good move. (Whether or not he actually thinks that, I'm not sure.)

**And that's it for The Overnighter! Oh, well...2 more things...Austin 'played' with Liz again (Barf!!!) and Johnny Mac is crushing on Becky "a 7 out of 10". lol Aww!! So cute. I don't expect too much to go on this afternoon since this whole week has been boring as hell & it's noon as I type this and all HG's are still sleeping, but we do have a new BB17 episode tonight at 8pm EST to look forward to for entertainment! Yayy! So enjoy the show, guys & gals!

Stay tuned...

The feeds were booring last night. One set of cameras fixed on Liz/Austin, which I refused to go to. Everyone else just small talk.

Rooting for James or Johnny Mac to win HOH!

me too!! @ james/john for HOH... and omg watching the feeds last night was like watching paint dry. lol

@Jamie

Watching paint dry may be boring but at least something productive is happening & being accomplished unlike in the BB house the vast majority of this season LOL

Haha good point!

Wow, this show has hit the dead zone!! Let's hope this upcoming HOH stirs things up!!

I'm sorry but if Austin was the LAST guy on earth, I'm still not going there. I'm sure in a few short months Liz will be saying "what was I thinking?"

Let me know what you think about this idea. I think for the returning house guest competition it should be similar to the one they did in Season 15 where they all were present in an endurance competition. I thought the banter and info sharing was hilarious. However, I would prefer it not to be physical. Something like the Season 6 box challenge that Jennifer won would be ideal where whoever wants it the most wins it. That or the competition Diane won on Season 5.

Can someone please explain to me all the Austin hate? I'm not trying to be sassy, I legitimately don't get it T.T

It's probably going to be an endurance comp for the house guest coming back in. Like last year's stack over the balancing beam. Talk about a boring season.. What happen to America's votes, and the have not comps... Every show is about Steve talking to himself, or Liz, and Austin playing with each other..

I agree 100%. I'm hoping it's not a game of chance like last year.

Definately not "expect the unexpected" ...no twists, game play maybe one day a week, rest of week is boring paranoia...I agree production needs to keep the show fresh and exciting...currently no need for three shows a week...BB promoted game-changing twists every week...does BB think their audience will forget this promise??... to production : we are expecting the unexpected, please don't disappoint!

Why does everyone hate Vanessa? She's a smart player who had done nothing but play a good game that was under the radar for the most part.

Also I have a firm belief that Johnny Mac is smarter than he acts.

People love to hate opposites attract

As it stands, I will be happy with any of the jurors returning at this point. I hope people dont take vanessa out until the jurors return.
But i beg that steve or a twin gets knocked out next week.
I honestly cant stand steve, I don't watch the feeds but reading about him talking to the camera about how he thinks hes not a floater repulses me. But he will make BB history as one of the worse moves, especially during a double eviction, good job steve!

In my opinion, Liz should have backdoored James.

She would significantly weaken the other side of the house and she would have guaranteed that at least 1 strong person from the other side of the house would not make it back into the house (Jackie/James).

Also, if neither of them make it back in the house then there really is no more other side of the house! Meg would become a total free agent.

This honestly would have been an amazing move on her part - I think Mr Caveman is blocking her judgement. Cant believe she had a prime opportunity to do it (especially with the fact that she won the veto) and didnt.

I just now read the comments from yesterday re how stale BB has become & I recall previously reading somewhere that the HOH is not supposed to tell who the person going home is, supposedly it's in the BB rule book. BB doesn't do a good job of enforcing rules. It would add to the excitement of the game if we didn't always (almost always) know who is going home. The "vote with the house" thing is dumb too, this did not happen back in the day.

As far as the cast goes, IMO they are not the worst, I love James & I think he is a lot more serious about the game than he lets on. He really needs the money, but he jokes around a lot instead of talking game 24/7. His game play strategy wise is far from perfect, but he has a great social game and he definitely has heart. What I want to see in a cast is 1. killer instinct 2. strategy 3. heart. Not too many players have all 3, but to win you usually need at least 2/3.

Another problem is the type casting; they go after certain types which kind of makes sense but has become way too obvious the last few years. I will keep watching though, not much on in the summer and it's one of my few traditions :) I think it might be a good idea to have twice as many HG and they have to compete to come into the house; this would make the selection process slightly more random, and slackers would be sent packing right away. Only 1/2 would make it in, or something along that line.

Incidentally, the other day I was googling around on the internet and I did not realize that Julia had leukemia when she was a child. Perhaps that is why she is a little more thoughtful than Liz. The twins are annoying to me mainly because I can't believe the dimwitted HG thought it would be a good idea to have twins in the house! However, I don't hate them and for you Amazing Race fans, buckle your seat belts, because I can almost guarantee they will be tapped for TAR. You heard it here first, lol.

Hate is a strong characterization of opinions shared on this blog by fans who don't particularly like a houseguest. Just to be clear, I don't hate anyone. So be careful throwing that word out there. It's ok to have a negative opinion about someone without it being misconstrued as hate.

I would love to see more POC on the show, instead of a token minority here or there. Also, while I like the eye candy of pretty women and men, I'd also love to see more "normal" or "quirky" people. I was so disappointed when Joey was cut first last year. She "had some meat on her bones," and unique personal style that was such a strong contrast.

Maybe I should audition.

Dafney77 said...

I agree!
I don't like when people say they "hate" a HG- we may dislike their strategy or their game play, but as an individual, how can you "hate" them.
I feel there is a lot of negative talk about these people, one being-"the twins voices are annoying",it's ok you feel that way, that's fine, but to be honest, I don't like my own voice on recording but I don't hate myself LOL
and the "i hate austin, he's gross" why does everyone judge him based on his looks? Listen, he's not my type, I don't find him attractive in any way, but he's not in my bed at night! His game play has been null to terrible, but he's still there in the house, so he's doing something (or someone) right! LOL
and the "i hate vanessa" Vanessa is playing a game just like the rest of the house should be! Do I feel she played a bit hard a bit fast? YEP, but oh well, she's still there! She's a poker player people! LOL She knows how to read people, she's been doing pretty good! But Johnny Mack is on to her- maybe he should play poker! haha!!
I can see the side of the argument, "she's a huge target, let's keep her here" AND I can understand the argument "she's a great player and manipulator, and we need to get her out". I guess it depends on what kind of game you're playing as to which view you choose.
I've been watching BB since season 7- I've always enjoyed the show, and TBH I even went to an open casting call 2 years ago. I guess I didn't have what they were looking for, but it won't stop me from trying again. I don't know exactly what they look for, because as everyone has said, this season is a bit boring. They used to put more clashing personalities in the house. Who remembers season 8 with Evyl Dick, Danielle, and James and Chelsea? James has got to be one of my favorite players next to Jeff of course! LOL Everyone in the house despised those two and they fought to the bitter end to stay!
which leaves me to a question to BB casting and CBS:
What the heck is going on? You're casting has not been up to par these past few seasons as in the past, you're using the same old competitions with a minor modifications, and there's no excitement! What happened to Pandora's Box? The Diamond Veto? The Twist? The expect the unexpected? It's all gone out the window with the old casting crew!
it's a shame-
sorry for my rant! I'm done- enjoy the eviction tonight....I hope Becky goes given the choices- I'm a Johnny Mack fan!! I wish 2 different people were on the block!
PEACE!

I am curious to know if anyone has any information on this season’s ratings. I understand that this blog only includes a small percentage of people that watch the show and a smaller percentage of people that comment. With that said, the common theme this year on this blog, myself included, is that this year’s show is horrible and almost unwatchable. Lots of complaining about production, the cast, no twists etc. So my question is…..is America still tuning in on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday? Have the ratings this year been up, down or same? Anyone know......

Jamie said...

ratings are down overall, though this past sunday was the best sunday for most viewers of the season.

Dafney - I don't think people really "hate" them - it's just a word that's used. And sorry - Liz's voice does drive me crazy! ha ha - and I just think she's a meanie girl.

Good lord - who said the twins will probably be on the amazing race? ugh ugh ugh - you are probably right!

It really does make me wonder how they figure out who to cast. Are good people not applying? This season was just such an odd crowd.

Two questions -
1. someone mentioned Austin has or had a girlfriend - is that true?
2. someone had also mentioned that Vanessa made several million $ playing poker, is that true? and if so - why is she here?

Jamie said...

Yes, Austin had a long term girlfriend when he first entered the house. & yes Vanessa won over $4 million I believe? playing poker.

GMAGS said...

Vanessa has won over $3.5 million in poker. She is also endorses several poker web sites and magazines bringing her net worth to $4 million.

Really, Raz, someone said the twins will be on the Amazing Race? I like watching that but that screaming would drive me crazy in some of the things they have to do there.
Van's bio on the CBS site says she has won $4.5 million.

Sadly the rating are reflecting what most of us all know and this cast and the last cast have shown. The game is predictable. Even the noivice to the game now know what's expected and It's become Expect the unexpected that's Expected.

No one is surprised about the challenges and or the twist. As well as BB seems to cast the same type people every season. I agree they need to diversify their casting.
